Shot of Chemistry

Would you like a shot? No I don't mean a shot of liquor or jager, unfourtanetly, I mean a Redken shot from the Redken Chemistry System. This is a in salon service that is wonderful! This is a conditioning treatment that can be customized to fit your hair hair needs. A normal conditioning treatment normally last about a week or so and this treatment last 6-8 weeks! This works good for distressed hair. There are two key types of distressed hair:

• Chemical Distress: caused by overuse of chemical services such as coloring, perming, straightening or lightening.
• Mecinical Distressed: caused by normal wear and tare from blow-drying , curling, flat iorning, everyday brushing and wearing pony tails a lot.

There are six diffrent "shots" that can be blended for truly personalized results:

• Extreme Shot for distressed hair, and also for when your hair is breaking.
• Color Extend Shot Phase for color treated hair. It helps portect your hair color.
• Clear Moisture is for normal to dry hair. This will also work well with the Clear Moisture leave in treatment.
• All Soft is for dry and brittle hair.
• Smooth Down is for very dry unruly hair.
• Real Control is for dense/dry/sensitized hair.

The Redken Chemistry System cost $25 but is well worth it, especially if you really need it. I have seen people spend more than twice that much in one month getting conditioning treatments. Why should you spend $50 or more a month when you can spend $25 every 6-8 weeks. You may not even have to do it every time you get a hair cut. Redken Hair Care Tips

Hello Everyone! Since I have told everyone about Redken and Sebastian hair products, now I will help you take care of your hair.

HAIRCOLORING TIPS-

• Let your color reflect your personality. You choose your clothes to fit your personality, so why not do the same with your hair?
• Choose a haircolor that enhaces your haircut.
• Pick a color that best compliments your skin tone.
• Create texture. Good color placement can help your hair look thicker.
• Follow seasonal haircolor trends.
• Use color to help you look younger by using new coloring techniques.
• For subtle change use the color Redken Shades EQ. Even if you don't want to change your color but want shine ask your stylist to use Shades EQ clear glaze.
• Make sure your haircolor regimen is convient for you. Talk to your stylist about how often you are comfortable with comming back to the salon to get your color done then he/she will be able to give you the best option.
• Haircolor can bring a big or a small change, so choose the option that is right for you.

STYLING TIPS

• Pick the right brush to style your hair. One size does not fit all!! Choose a big round brush to straighten long coarse or curly hair. A medium sized for meidum length hair and a small round brush for short hair.
• Use a nossle or diffuser with your blow dryer. These attachments can make a world of diffrence with your hair style. A nossle directs air flow to give you a smoother blow dry. A diffuse helps curl your hair without leaving frizz.
• Section off your hair so you can work in a neat and controlled manner.
• Make sure your hair is 100% dry before using a flat iorn or a curling iorn otherwise it could cause damage.
• Tuck those ends under!! When using your curling iorn make sure your hair is tucked into your curling iorn before you roll it up, otherwise you will get "fish hooks".
• Keep your flat iorn moving. Starting and stopping and then pressing too hard can leave dents in your hair.

Sebastian Professional "Foundation"

The past two blogs had to do with Redken hair care, and I realize that everyone likes diffrent hair prodcuts weather its Redken, Sebastian, Paul Mitchell, or Biolage, so today I am going to blog about Sebastian shampoos and conditioners.

LIGHT SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

This shampoo and conditioner is not very heavy. Some people with thin, fine hair have trouble with shampoo's, conditioners and styling products that will weigh you hair down, and with the light shampoo and conditioner it will simply just clense your hair.

DRECH SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

This quenches dry and frizzy hair while puting moisture back in. I know from experience this product works well, it also work well on color treated hair.

PENETRAITT SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER AND MASQUE

This product is also safe for color treated hair. It helps repair your hair by removing any stress from it. It helps strengthen any look. When you use the Penetraitt hair masque remove any excess water from your hair and saturate evenly focusing on your most damaged areas and leave on for 2-3 min. and rinse out. This is best for stressed, dull and chemically damaged hair.

FLOW PRODUCTS

Potion 9 lite- is a leave in conditioner that nourishes undernourished hair.

Potion 9- is active-oil botanicals restore hair's natrual condition, leaving hair with renued shine.

Since I have been in the hair industry, I have noticed, people have trouble taking care of their hair. I have noticed people are unsure on what products to use. I have been using Redken for a while now, and I really enjoy using it and I would recomend really recomend it. Shortly after I started, It got renamed to Montogmerys Hairstyling Academy and now is a Paul Mitchell School. I have worked at Scissors on Marlboro, Shear Deminsions, Smart Style and now Belk Salon and Spa. I have wanted to do hair since I was around 14 or 15 years old, with a dream of one day owning my own salon and spa!

Every one has a passion, and people are mine! I love being able to interacting with my clients to see what kind of style best fits them and their personality. People ask me all the time, "Lindsey, what is your favorite thing to do as a stylist?" It is hard for me to pick just one thing that I like, but if I had to choose one thing it would be doing "funky stuff". I really enjoy, giving someone a "funky color" and then giving them a fun haircut to go along with it. It seems to spice my job up. I do also enjoy doing the simple things to, like showing someone how to style their hair diffrently, or showing them how to hair healthy!
