Salon Etiquette

Hey guys!! How is everyone doing?? Hope everyone is doing great! Today I figured I would write on salon etiquette . You would be suprised at how some people act (or let their kids act) in a salon.

  • Most salons have a 24 hour cancellation policy, so if you can't make it to your appointment let your stylist know as soon as possible, because they have that spot reserved for YOU and if you can't make it then they can put someone in your spot. I know at the salon I work at if you repeatedly cancel your appointment, and not give enough notice they will make you pay before you come in.
  • Be at least 15 min. early so you and your stylist can be ready at the time of your appointment. Sometimes if you are late then your stylist wont take you. I don't mean like 5 min. late I mean like 15 min. or more. Plus if you are early the you wont be messing up someone elses appointment!
  • Explain in detail what kind of look you want! Pictures are a plus!! You and your stylist should talk about your personality, lifestyle and diffrent styling techniques! If you dont have the time to fix that shor hair style in the picture you probably shouldn't get it.
  • If your salon offers or sales products, it's most often because they are the products that are used to get your style at the salon, and it will recreate the same look at home.
  • If you are unhappy with your hair please stay calm! Sometimes it takes time to get use to your new look. After a few days you are still unhappy you should go speak to the manager/owner and they can fix it for free or at a discounted price. Every salon is diffrent.
  • Research the salon's rates before your visit. Also ask what form of payment they take. Not every salon takes debit/credit cards. Also ask your stylist when you sit down in his/her chair how much the service will be for YOUR hair, just because Suzie Q sittin next to you is getting the same service your hair could be more expensive because your hair could be longer or thicker. Some salons also let some of their stylist raise there prices because they have been there for a while, (I don't do that).
  • It is a insult to tell your stylist exactally what to do. It's one thing to tell your stylist how you want to hair cut but don't sit there and say, "you forgot this piece!" Would you want someone how to do your job?
  • It is always nice to tip your stylist considering they do not get to keep 100% of what they make. They have to go buy products and color to do your hair. A good tip is between 15%-20%.
  • Please, please, please don't use your cell phone or laptop while I am doing your hair, weather you are texting or making a phone call. That just makes my job harder!
  • Please leave your children elsewhere! I don't care how good your 8 year old is. Kids do get impaitent. They also bother other stylist when they are moving and running around. Plus if they break a chair or something else in the salon, guess who gets to pay for it.....YOU! A lot of stylist don't like it when children play with their chairs!
  • We are hairstylist, not magichians. If your hair is a hot mess we can fix it, it may take more than one visit, but we can do it.

Hope you enjoyed the blog and I hope to see you this weekend! I work Friday Saturday and Sunday!!!

Let's just pretend you are my client

We all know that the economy isn't treating us very well, and if it comes down to buying groceries or getting your hair done, you will buy groceries. Lets just say you were my client (and if you aren't already, you should be! LOL!!!) and you can't afford to come in to get your hair done, weather its cut, color, or perm/relaxer what kind of deals/specials would you like to see in your salon? Your opinion counts! Please don't say something crazy like free haircolor, or perm/relaxer! We can't work that hard for free! While I am here, blogging, I just wanted to let everyone know that if you a first time client at Belk Salon and Spa you will get a welcome packet with $45 in savings and you get 3 refferal cards and if you send your stylist 3 people you will get a FREE haircut! Hope to hear from you soon!!

Just because the economy is bad doesn't mean your hair should be!

Now at work we have a few new fall specials we are doing. We have a Tuesday night special where it's 50% off haircolor with a haircut or 20% new customers. We do use Redken Fusion color and Shades EQ. Another special we have is Receive a Free conditioning treatment when you buy shampoo and conditioner. The twist with that one though is you have to pay for your style but you are getting a $15-$25 service free. We can customize the treatment to best fit your hair. Wednesdays are our military appreation day were we give you 20% off your service if you bring in your military id. (I don't work Wednesdays but there will be someone there that will take good care of you). At this point I am still doing $10 eyebrow waxes and $5 lip waxes. Eyebrow waxes are normally $17 and lip waxes are normally $12 so come and get it while it's cheap. The Belk Salon and Spa also has "perks". For first time clients you get a Welcome Packet that also has special savings in the inside and then you get 3 refferal cards and if you send your stylist (which should be me) 3 new clients you get a FREE haircut. To schedule a appointment with me call the Belk Salon and Spa at 910-864-3098 and if you are intereted in any of these discounted services please let ME know at the start of your appointment. The hours I work are:

Tuesdays: 4-8
Fridays: 1-7
Saturdays: 10-6
Sunday: 12-6

Hope to see you soon!!!
