SOCIAL NETWORKING VS. REAL LIFE

As we all know, most of us have some kind of "Social Networking" sight, and some of us have more than one. Weather it's Facebook, Myspace or, Twitter we all have a way to connect with friends and family. Then there are those people who like to "Facebook stalk". To me looking at other people's profiles are not big deal, but don't get pissed at what you see. I do love to check my Facebook and Twitter, and I also like to look at other peoples, just to see what is going on in their live or what they have to say about life. But why should I get mad when I go onto someones sight to see they do not like me or they talk shit about me. I shouldn't get mad, I should have minded my own business, (that has never happened, I was just using myself as an example). I hate it when people expect you to be one way when you are not. Some of us do "censor" ourselves when we tweet or facebook, some of us do not. Don't get your feelings hurt when that one person you thought was soooo great, isn't as great as you thought. I guess what I am trying to say is most of us at least have a little bit of a fake side, or a more proper/respectful side. We try to censor ourselves in front of our families (parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles and elders) but when we get around our friends we are different. Which isn't a bad thing.....well sometimes it isn't a bad thing. If you are out smoking heroin and your family has no idea, then yea, that's bad, but if you cuss like a sailor, then that's NOT as bad as being a drunken crack head. I certainly didn't like it when one of my facebook friends tried to call me and my cousin out for "liking" something with a cuss word in it. I can understand being respectful, but don't get pissed over one word! I grew up in church so, don't think I cuss like a sailor and I am some bad ass who drinks and parties all of the time. My husband and I are self sufficient, we own a house and pay our own bills. We do not live beyond our means. We do not have any credit cards and our only debts our our house and my car. I do not need someone preaching at me if I do one minor thing wrong. I know what I do wrong, I do not need reminders. If you see me going off my path, (i.e doing drugs, drinking heavily or doing wrong towards my husband and family) then say something, but please don't JUDGE!!

Life isn't fair, get use to it!
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault , so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

We all know that I love the "social network". I am the one who always wants to know what's going on in people's lives. I started a twitter thinking I wouldn't like it, but I love it! The way twitter works is you can "follow" people. Meaning every time they tweet, it will come up on your home page.....Like facebook. When you "follow" someone it isn't a friend request because they do not follow you back. Some people have private pages, so they do have to confirm you following them. When your page is private it cuts down all of the spam. I enjoy keeping up with certain celebrities and the whole pop culture. For example, I follow the backstreet boys then each individual one. The Backstreet Boys twitter account talk about what they are doing as a group, but each individual one talks about their personal life. You can tweet as much or as little as you'd like, (it's more fun if you tweet more). You can also promote your business/company with twitter. It's also fun to see what's going on in other peoples lives, (the nice way to say be nosy, lol). There are a few accounts that are just funny to read. Like Dump that dude, which is a account talking about why you should dump a boyfriend. It's just someone putting silly post on the internet. There is also one that gives you facts about your horoscope sign. There are also a lot of people who like the website TMZ well there is a tmz accout as well!! Here are a few accounts I follow that I enjoy reading:

I recommend people who like to talk a lot or people who post a lot of facebook to do this. You can only use 140 characters in your tweet, but if you have more to say you can use the site www.twitlonger.com on that site you can use as many characters as you'd like. You can also share photos if you would like. You can not make a photo album but you can use the site www.twitpic.com and people can look at your current and past photos. If you ever join....follow me and keep up with all of my random thoughts....lol www.twitter.com/lindsey_2

Random Facts About Me!
1. The story of my most serious injury- Well, I have a very low pain tolerance, so it is very easy for me to get hurt. I've been on crutches two different times and got stitches. The time I got stitches, I was fairly young, I was about six or seven. I was down the street at my neighbor Kyle and Jordan's house, (they are brother's, Kyle is the oldest). Kyle told Jordan to pitch some baseballs to him so he could try to hit them, well in the process Kyle kept telling me to move, but I wasn't paying attention and he thought I was. As soon as I turned around and he swung at the same time and hit me in the four head. So, he walked me home, and my mom took me to the hospital. Then I fell down stairs twice and sprained both of my ankles. Not fun!
2. The person I admire most- My mom obviously! I have to admire her, I'm her mini me...lol..I hear that all of the time!
3. If I had a super power- I would want to be able to hear peoples thoughts. That would be pretty awesome!!
4. If this celebrity knocked on my door, I would run away with them- Okay people lets get one thing straight! I would NOT run away with Nick or Aaron Carter, unless I wasn't with Shawn, and a lot skinnier! It would be tempting. I would probably stalk them till they leave town though.......lol....
5. Why I care about celebrities- I think I care about celebrities, because I have no life! I just care about certain ones though!
I think that is enough random facts for the day!! Hope you enjoyed it!

All out of Ideas so I googled some more
Surprisingly enough, I ran out of things to talk about. I could sit here and talk junk on people, but that wouldn't be very nice, and I am too afraid they would read it...I am a CHICKEN! So, I googled "things to blog about" I ran across a few ideas, then I came across this one website that gave me AWESOME ideas. I hope I can keep you entertained and be prepared, there is no telling what you will read. I may add a few of my own ideas.
TOPIC #1
HOW I USE FACEBOOK- I use facebook to stay in touch with people, be nosy and play that corny farmville game. Most of the people on facebook, I don't talk to on a daily basis. I just want to know what they are up too. So, basically what I am trying to say is, I don't have a life, and if you don't want others to know your business don't put it on the internet. I don't even know why I started to play that farmville game, I am defiantly not the farming type. It is addictive, and its not like I am doing the actual thing...I just hit a few buttons and its done....It keeps me busy, out of trouble, and also keeps me quite. You probably have noticed I am on the internet a lot, but most of the time, I am just logged in but I am doing something else. I'll just come check in ever few minuets.
TOPIC #2
SOMEBODY HAS TO SAY IT- (I would like to pre-apologize for anything I say on this topic, but someone has to say it) I know I have blogged on this before, but what is up will all of these "dumb" people in this world, and I don't mean all of the ditzy people. I just don't understand how people don't think about their future, they are just all caught up with right now. Like, I don't mean someone being my age worrying about things that will happen when they are 70. I mean you should think about the consequences to all of your actions. I mean just sit back and think....Hmmmm.....If I have several alcoholic beverages I may get drunk, and I will probably have a hang over tomorrow, which means, I will feel sick. If I use heroine once, I may get addicted and spend all of my money on it and loose everything I have. Oh, well, if I have unprotected sex, I may get pregnant, and I can barely cover my bills now, What am I going to do? What you SHOULD HAVE DONE is think before you act. Another topic that goes hand and hand with this, I think, is people you use other people for money or a free ride for something....I am not trying to pin point one person, but your seriously people, take care of yourself! Get a job and think of the reasons why you are using someone. Is it because your lazy? Is it because you have gotten yourself in so much crap, you need someone to bail you out? You should have thought about it. You've made your bed, now lay in it.
Hope you enjoyed my blog!!

RESURRECTION MARY
(THIS PICTURE IS FAKE BUT GOES WITH THE STORY)But who is this young woman, or at least who was she when she was alive? Most researchers agree that the most accurate version of the story concerns a young girl who was killed while hitchhiking down Archer Avenue in the early 1930’s. Apparently, she had spent the evening dancing with a boyfriend at the O Henry Ballroom. At some point, they got into an argument and Mary (as she has come to be called) stormed out of the place. Even though it was a cold winter’s night, she thought, she would rather face a cold walk home than another minute with her boorish lover. She left the ballroom and started walking up Archer Avenue. She had not gotten very far when she was struck and killed by a passing automobile. The driver fled the scene and Mary was left there to die. Her grieving parents buried her in Resurrection Cemetery, wearing a white dress and her dancing shoes. Since that time, her spirit has been seen along Archer Avenue, perhaps trying to return to her grave after one last night among the living. It has never been known just who the earthly counterpart of Mary might have been. Over the years, there have been many sightings and encounters with the ghost alleged to be “Resurrection Mary”. Dozens of young men have told of picking up the same girl, or meeting her at the ballroom, only to have her disappear from their car. Perhaps the most believableencounter with Mary took place in 1939 and involved a young man named Jerry Palus. The majority of the reports seem to come from the cold winter months, like the account passed on by a cab driver. He picked up a girl who was walking along Archer Avenue one night in 1941. It was very cold outside, but she was not wearing a coat. She jumped into the cab and told him that she needed toget home very quickly. She directed him along Archer Avenue and a few minutes later, he looked back and she was gone. He realized that he was passing in front of the cemetery when she disappeared. The stories continued but perhaps the strangest account of Mary was the one that occurred on the night of August 10, 1976. This event has remained so bizarre after all this time because on this occasion, Mary did not just appear as a passing spirit. It was on this night that she left evidence behind!
A driver was passing by the cemetery around 10:30 that night when he happened to see a girl standing on the other side of the gates. He said that when he saw her, she was wearing a white dress and grasping the iron bars of the gate. The driver was considerate enough to stop down the street at the Justice police station and alert them to the fact that someone had been accidentally locked in the cemetery at closing time. An officer responded to the call but when he arrived there was no one there. The graveyard was dark and deserted and there was no sign of any girl.
But his inspection of the gates, where the girl had been seen standing, did reveal something. The revelation chilled him to the bone! He found that two of the bars in the gate had been pulled apart and bent at sharp angles. To make things worse, at the points on the green-colored bronze where they had been pried apart were blackened scorch marks. Within these marks was what looked to be skin texture and handprints that had been seared into the metal with incredible heat.
The marks of the small hands made big news and curiosity-seekers came from all over the area to see them. In an effort to discourage the crowds, cemetery officials attempted to remove the marks with a blowtorch, making them look even worse. Finally, they cut the bars off and installed a wire fence until the two bars could be straightened or replaced.

Salon Etiquette

Hey guys!! How is everyone doing?? Hope everyone is doing great! Today I figured I would write on salon etiquette . You would be suprised at how some people act (or let their kids act) in a salon.
- Most salons have a 24 hour cancellation policy, so if you can't make it to your appointment let your stylist know as soon as possible, because they have that spot reserved for YOU and if you can't make it then they can put someone in your spot. I know at the salon I work at if you repeatedly cancel your appointment, and not give enough notice they will make you pay before you come in.
- Be at least 15 min. early so you and your stylist can be ready at the time of your appointment. Sometimes if you are late then your stylist wont take you. I don't mean like 5 min. late I mean like 15 min. or more. Plus if you are early the you wont be messing up someone elses appointment!
- Explain in detail what kind of look you want! Pictures are a plus!! You and your stylist should talk about your personality, lifestyle and diffrent styling techniques! If you dont have the time to fix that shor hair style in the picture you probably shouldn't get it.
- If your salon offers or sales products, it's most often because they are the products that are used to get your style at the salon, and it will recreate the same look at home.
- If you are unhappy with your hair please stay calm! Sometimes it takes time to get use to your new look. After a few days you are still unhappy you should go speak to the manager/owner and they can fix it for free or at a discounted price. Every salon is diffrent.
- Research the salon's rates before your visit. Also ask what form of payment they take. Not every salon takes debit/credit cards. Also ask your stylist when you sit down in his/her chair how much the service will be for YOUR hair, just because Suzie Q sittin next to you is getting the same service your hair could be more expensive because your hair could be longer or thicker. Some salons also let some of their stylist raise there prices because they have been there for a while, (I don't do that).
- It is a insult to tell your stylist exactally what to do. It's one thing to tell your stylist how you want to hair cut but don't sit there and say, "you forgot this piece!" Would you want someone how to do your job?
- It is always nice to tip your stylist considering they do not get to keep 100% of what they make. They have to go buy products and color to do your hair. A good tip is between 15%-20%.
- Please, please, please don't use your cell phone or laptop while I am doing your hair, weather you are texting or making a phone call. That just makes my job harder!
- Please leave your children elsewhere! I don't care how good your 8 year old is. Kids do get impaitent. They also bother other stylist when they are moving and running around. Plus if they break a chair or something else in the salon, guess who gets to pay for it.....YOU! A lot of stylist don't like it when children play with their chairs!
- We are hairstylist, not magichians. If your hair is a hot mess we can fix it, it may take more than one visit, but we can do it.
