Respect

It is sad to say there are plenty of people who have a lack of respect for others. Weather it's an adult, co-worker, friend, authority, or for themselves. If people could have some respect this world would be a different place. So I figured I would REMIND everyone what this word means!

The definition of RESPECT:

1. a particular, detail, or point.
2. relation of reference: inquiries with respect of a route.
3. esteem for or esteem of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability: I have great respect for her judgement.
4. deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have certain rights or privileges: show respect for the flag, respect the elderly.

All out of Ideas so I googled some more

I just want to start off by saying I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Now that I am older (22 is still young but its a long ways from being 8) holidays aren't as exciting as they use to be and it sucks!!! Every since I was about thirteen up until I moved out, my mom would wake me up early on Thanksgiving to get me to help her cook.....or should I say, make deviled eggs and clean up after her while she does the major cooking. Now she calls me real early to make sure I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. This year, I was way ahead of her. She called me around 10 am and I was sleeping, and she was surprised to hear I was already finished the deviled eggs.
Surprisingly enough, I ran out of things to talk about. I could sit here and talk junk on people, but that wouldn't be very nice, and I am too afraid they would read it...I am a CHICKEN! So, I googled "things to blog about" I ran across a few ideas, then I came across this one website that gave me AWESOME ideas. I hope I can keep you entertained and be prepared, there is no telling what you will read. I may add a few of my own ideas.
TOPIC #1
HOW I USE FACEBOOK- I use facebook to stay in touch with people, be nosy and play that corny farmville game. Most of the people on facebook, I don't talk to on a daily basis. I just want to know what they are up too. So, basically what I am trying to say is, I don't have a life, and if you don't want others to know your business don't put it on the internet. I don't even know why I started to play that farmville game, I am defiantly not the farming type. It is addictive, and its not like I am doing the actual thing...I just hit a few buttons and its done....It keeps me busy, out of trouble, and also keeps me quite. You probably have noticed I am on the internet a lot, but most of the time, I am just logged in but I am doing something else. I'll just come check in ever few minuets.
TOPIC #2
SOMEBODY HAS TO SAY IT- (I would like to pre-apologize for anything I say on this topic, but someone has to say it) I know I have blogged on this before, but what is up will all of these "dumb" people in this world, and I don't mean all of the ditzy people. I just don't understand how people don't think about their future, they are just all caught up with right now. Like, I don't mean someone being my age worrying about things that will happen when they are 70. I mean you should think about the consequences to all of your actions. I mean just sit back and think....Hmmmm.....If I have several alcoholic beverages I may get drunk, and I will probably have a hang over tomorrow, which means, I will feel sick. If I use heroine once, I may get addicted and spend all of my money on it and loose everything I have. Oh, well, if I have unprotected sex, I may get pregnant, and I can barely cover my bills now, What am I going to do? What you SHOULD HAVE DONE is think before you act. Another topic that goes hand and hand with this, I think, is people you use other people for money or a free ride for something....I am not trying to pin point one person, but your seriously people, take care of yourself! Get a job and think of the reasons why you are using someone. Is it because your lazy? Is it because you have gotten yourself in so much crap, you need someone to bail you out? You should have thought about it. You've made your bed, now lay in it.

Hope you enjoyed my blog!!

Self Improvement

When I think of myself, I like to think of myself as a nice person, and I try not to be mean to people. If I have hurt your feelings, I am truly sorry, and if this apology isn't good enough for you, let me know and I will apologize to your face. I do realize I am not perfect and I never will be. I do not think I am better than anyone else, but I will say I have made better choices than some people. I will admit that some of the choices I have made have been the wrong choice, but I can't blame anyone but myself. No one made me make the choices I made. All I could do was simply learn from my mistakes. I do have a problem with people who don't own up to their mistakes. I know I have been guilty of it a few times. If you did something wrong admit to it, don't try to lie about it or blame someone else. That just makes yourself look bad. I am sure everyone is guilty of doing it. Some just do it more than others. Every once in a while I have to just sit back and analyze my own life and think about my life and what I need to change and what I need to improve on, and if you have any advice, bring it on baby!! I am ready!!! I want to hear what you have to say. There is always room for improvement. Another thing that makes you very "uncool" is lying. If you ask for someone's opinion, please tell the truth, the whole truth, and noting but the truth!!!! (I've never been in court) No one can help you if you can't help yourself. It will also make you look real bad if the person you lied to finds out that you lied. Another thing that is annoying is people USING OTHER PEOPLE. If someone is trying to help you, you better thank them and your lucky stars that they want to help. Don't take someones kindness for granted. Also, if someone is trying to help you and they "correct" you on something you did wrong don't get mad at them for saying something. You probably shouldn't lie to them either. Everyone has faults, no one is perfect, and there is always room for improvement is your life. I guess all I am trying to say is have try to keep a positive attitude about your life and thank God for every day that you have, because tomorrow isn't guaranteed. We all know someone who died too young and that is proof that tomorrow is not promised to us. Be thankful for what you have, even if it is not much, be thankful you have your life, health, family and friends.

RESURRECTION MARY

(THIS PICTURE IS FAKE BUT GOES WITH THE STORY)

Although stories of "vanishing hitchhikers" in Chicago date back to the horse and buggy days, Mary’s tale begins in the 1930’s. It was around this time that drivers along Archer Avenue started reporting strange encounters with a young woman in a white dress. She always appeared to be real, until she would inexplicably vanish. The reports of this girl began in the middle 1930’s and started when motorists passing by Resurrection Cemetery began claiming that a young woman was attempting to jump onto the running boards of their automobiles. Not long after, the woman became more mysterious, and much more alluring. The strange encounters began to move further away from the graveyard and closer to the O Henry Ballroom, which is now known as the Willowbrook. She was now reported on the nearby roadway and sometimes, inside of the ballroom itself. On many occasions, young men would meet a girl at the ballroom, dance with her and then offer her a ride home at the end of the evening. She would always accept and offer vague directions that would lead north on Archer Avenue. When the car would reach the gates of Resurrection Cemetery, the young woman would always vanish.More common were the claims of motorists who would see the girl walking along the road. They would offer her a ride and then witness her vanishing from their car. These drivers could describe the girl in detail and nearly every single description precisely matched the previous accounts. The girl was said to have light blond hair, blue eyes and was wearing a white party dress. Some more attentive drivers would sometimes add that she wore a thin shawl, or dancing shoes, and that she had a small clutch purse. Others had even more harrowing experiences. Rather than having the girl vanish for their car, they claimed to actually run her down in the street. They claimed to see a woman in a white dress bolt in front of their car near the cemetery and would actually describe the sickening thud as she was struck by the front of the car. When they stopped to go to her aid, she would be gone. Some even said that the automobile passed directly through the girl. At that point, she would turn and disappear through the cemetery gates. Bewildered and shaken drivers began to appear almost routinely in nearby businesses and even at the nearby Justice, Illinois police station. They told strange and frightening stories and sometimes they were believed and sometimes they weren’t. Regardless, they created an even greater legend of the vanishing girl, who would go on to become Resurrection Mary.

But who is this young woman, or at least who was she when she was alive? Most researchers agree that the most accurate version of the story concerns a young girl who was killed while hitchhiking down Archer Avenue in the early 1930’s. Apparently, she had spent the evening dancing with a boyfriend at the O Henry Ballroom. At some point, they got into an argument and Mary (as she has come to be called) stormed out of the place. Even though it was a cold winter’s night, she thought, she would rather face a cold walk home than another minute with her boorish lover. She left the ballroom and started walking up Archer Avenue. She had not gotten very far when she was struck and killed by a passing automobile. The driver fled the scene and Mary was left there to die. Her grieving parents buried her in Resurrection Cemetery, wearing a white dress and her dancing shoes. Since that time, her spirit has been seen along Archer Avenue, perhaps trying to return to her grave after one last night among the living. It has never been known just who the earthly counterpart of Mary might have been. Over the years, there have been many sightings and encounters with the ghost alleged to be “Resurrection Mary”. Dozens of young men have told of picking up the same girl, or meeting her at the ballroom, only to have her disappear from their car. Perhaps the most believableencounter with Mary took place in 1939 and involved a young man named Jerry Palus. The majority of the reports seem to come from the cold winter months, like the account passed on by a cab driver. He picked up a girl who was walking along Archer Avenue one night in 1941. It was very cold outside, but she was not wearing a coat. She jumped into the cab and told him that she needed toget home very quickly. She directed him along Archer Avenue and a few minutes later, he looked back and she was gone. He realized that he was passing in front of the cemetery when she disappeared. The stories continued but perhaps the strangest account of Mary was the one that occurred on the night of August 10, 1976. This event has remained so bizarre after all this time because on this occasion, Mary did not just appear as a passing spirit. It was on this night that she left evidence behind!

A driver was passing by the cemetery around 10:30 that night when he happened to see a girl standing on the other side of the gates. He said that when he saw her, she was wearing a white dress and grasping the iron bars of the gate. The driver was considerate enough to stop down the street at the Justice police station and alert them to the fact that someone had been accidentally locked in the cemetery at closing time. An officer responded to the call but when he arrived there was no one there. The graveyard was dark and deserted and there was no sign of any girl.

But his inspection of the gates, where the girl had been seen standing, did reveal something. The revelation chilled him to the bone! He found that two of the bars in the gate had been pulled apart and bent at sharp angles. To make things worse, at the points on the green-colored bronze where they had been pried apart were blackened scorch marks. Within these marks was what looked to be skin texture and handprints that had been seared into the metal with incredible heat.

The marks of the small hands made big news and curiosity-seekers came from all over the area to see them. In an effort to discourage the crowds, cemetery officials attempted to remove the marks with a blowtorch, making them look even worse. Finally, they cut the bars off and installed a wire fence until the two bars could be straightened or replaced.

Salon Etiquette

Hey guys!! How is everyone doing?? Hope everyone is doing great! Today I figured I would write on salon etiquette . You would be suprised at how some people act (or let their kids act) in a salon.

  • Most salons have a 24 hour cancellation policy, so if you can't make it to your appointment let your stylist know as soon as possible, because they have that spot reserved for YOU and if you can't make it then they can put someone in your spot. I know at the salon I work at if you repeatedly cancel your appointment, and not give enough notice they will make you pay before you come in.
  • Be at least 15 min. early so you and your stylist can be ready at the time of your appointment. Sometimes if you are late then your stylist wont take you. I don't mean like 5 min. late I mean like 15 min. or more. Plus if you are early the you wont be messing up someone elses appointment!
  • Explain in detail what kind of look you want! Pictures are a plus!! You and your stylist should talk about your personality, lifestyle and diffrent styling techniques! If you dont have the time to fix that shor hair style in the picture you probably shouldn't get it.
  • If your salon offers or sales products, it's most often because they are the products that are used to get your style at the salon, and it will recreate the same look at home.
  • If you are unhappy with your hair please stay calm! Sometimes it takes time to get use to your new look. After a few days you are still unhappy you should go speak to the manager/owner and they can fix it for free or at a discounted price. Every salon is diffrent.
  • Research the salon's rates before your visit. Also ask what form of payment they take. Not every salon takes debit/credit cards. Also ask your stylist when you sit down in his/her chair how much the service will be for YOUR hair, just because Suzie Q sittin next to you is getting the same service your hair could be more expensive because your hair could be longer or thicker. Some salons also let some of their stylist raise there prices because they have been there for a while, (I don't do that).
  • It is a insult to tell your stylist exactally what to do. It's one thing to tell your stylist how you want to hair cut but don't sit there and say, "you forgot this piece!" Would you want someone how to do your job?
  • It is always nice to tip your stylist considering they do not get to keep 100% of what they make. They have to go buy products and color to do your hair. A good tip is between 15%-20%.
  • Please, please, please don't use your cell phone or laptop while I am doing your hair, weather you are texting or making a phone call. That just makes my job harder!
  • Please leave your children elsewhere! I don't care how good your 8 year old is. Kids do get impaitent. They also bother other stylist when they are moving and running around. Plus if they break a chair or something else in the salon, guess who gets to pay for it.....YOU! A lot of stylist don't like it when children play with their chairs!
  • We are hairstylist, not magichians. If your hair is a hot mess we can fix it, it may take more than one visit, but we can do it.

Hope you enjoyed the blog and I hope to see you this weekend! I work Friday Saturday and Sunday!!!
