SOCIAL NETWORKING VS. REAL LIFE

As we all know, most of us have some kind of "Social Networking" sight, and some of us have more than one. Weather it's Facebook, Myspace or, Twitter we all have a way to connect with friends and family. Then there are those people who like to "Facebook stalk". To me looking at other people's profiles are not big deal, but don't get pissed at what you see. I do love to check my Facebook and Twitter, and I also like to look at other peoples, just to see what is going on in their live or what they have to say about life. But why should I get mad when I go onto someones sight to see they do not like me or they talk shit about me. I shouldn't get mad, I should have minded my own business, (that has never happened, I was just using myself as an example). I hate it when people expect you to be one way when you are not. Some of us do "censor" ourselves when we tweet or facebook, some of us do not. Don't get your feelings hurt when that one person you thought was soooo great, isn't as great as you thought. I guess what I am trying to say is most of us at least have a little bit of a fake side, or a more proper/respectful side. We try to censor ourselves in front of our families (parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles and elders) but when we get around our friends we are different. Which isn't a bad thing.....well sometimes it isn't a bad thing. If you are out smoking heroin and your family has no idea, then yea, that's bad, but if you cuss like a sailor, then that's NOT as bad as being a drunken crack head. I certainly didn't like it when one of my facebook friends tried to call me and my cousin out for "liking" something with a cuss word in it. I can understand being respectful, but don't get pissed over one word! I grew up in church so, don't think I cuss like a sailor and I am some bad ass who drinks and parties all of the time. My husband and I are self sufficient, we own a house and pay our own bills. We do not live beyond our means. We do not have any credit cards and our only debts our our house and my car. I do not need someone preaching at me if I do one minor thing wrong. I know what I do wrong, I do not need reminders. If you see me going off my path, (i.e doing drugs, drinking heavily or doing wrong towards my husband and family) then say something, but please don't JUDGE!!

Life isn't fair, get use to it!

Love him or hate him , he sure hits the nail on the head with this!
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault , so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Twitter

We all know that I love the "social network". I am the one who always wants to know what's going on in people's lives. I started a twitter thinking I wouldn't like it, but I love it! The way twitter works is you can "follow" people. Meaning every time they tweet, it will come up on your home page.....Like facebook. When you "follow" someone it isn't a friend request because they do not follow you back. Some people have private pages, so they do have to confirm you following them. When your page is private it cuts down all of the spam. I enjoy keeping up with certain celebrities and the whole pop culture. For example, I follow the backstreet boys then each individual one. The Backstreet Boys twitter account talk about what they are doing as a group, but each individual one talks about their personal life. You can tweet as much or as little as you'd like, (it's more fun if you tweet more). You can also promote your business/company with twitter. It's also fun to see what's going on in other peoples lives, (the nice way to say be nosy, lol). There are a few accounts that are just funny to read. Like Dump that dude, which is a account talking about why you should dump a boyfriend. It's just someone putting silly post on the internet. There is also one that gives you facts about your horoscope sign. There are also a lot of people who like the website TMZ well there is a tmz accout as well!! Here are a few accounts I follow that I enjoy reading:

I recommend people who like to talk a lot or people who post a lot of facebook to do this. You can only use 140 characters in your tweet, but if you have more to say you can use the site www.twitlonger.com on that site you can use as many characters as you'd like. You can also share photos if you would like. You can not make a photo album but you can use the site www.twitpic.com and people can look at your current and past photos. If you ever join....follow me and keep up with all of my random thoughts....lol www.twitter.com/lindsey_2

Daydream

What is a dream? A dream is something we do while we sleep. According to wikipedia it is a succession of thoughts, images, sounds or emotions which the mind experiences while we sleep. Where do they come from and why do we dream the things we dream? I don't like ALL of my dreams......some are bad. My DAYDREAMS on the other had are wonderful. A daydream is merely a visionary fantasy experienced while you are awake especially one of happy, pleasant thoughts or hopes. My "daydream" that I had when I first turned 18 is not what really happened. I had my life all planned out. God had a different plan, I am still trying to figure out why. I had it all figured out. Get out of cosmetology school, save some money and get the hell out of Fayetteville. I don't think this place is miserable, but it's not for me. I needed a fresh start. I didn't know where I was going......I just knew that I wanted to go away, far far away. I don't know how well that would have worked out because, 9 times out of 10 I was going to be with my mom. We are close. Not like we use to be. I am not the kind to tell my mom EVERYTHING. Believe me, if she knew some stuff, she would shit a brick. No I never used drugs and I wasn't drunk every weekend, and I wasn't a whore.........I just can't go into detail. Trust me, it's nothing too crazy. Sorry, I've gone off track. Hmmmm...........where would I have gone? Perhaps to the beach? I don't know who I would have gone with. I would have just gone away. I am going to breakdown the exact plan: I graduated High school in May 05. Turned 18 and started cosmetology school June 05 and told myself that I WOULD NOT have a serious boyfriend and get my shit together and get out of school. December of 05 my mother convinced (well forced) me to go to a bar (sounds crazy right?). She forced me to the bar to watch my dads band play. Okay, I could care less about Lynard Skynard. I don't care how fantastic they are.......I DONT CARE! The only way I would have been happy about being there is if Backstreet Boys were going to be there, I would have been first in line. My crazy ass probably would have called the bar and begged to help set up for free. But anyways, I was there, watching my dad's band play (plus other musicians) I pretty much had a attitude that evening. Then I turn around, and guess who is leaning on the wall like a "cool guy"? You guessed it Shawn. So, he eventually approached me and got my number (I am making a long story short). I hoped he wouldn't call, because of the plan. Well he did, and now we are married, and we own a house. No kids yet. I do love him. But now I sit back and think.....what happened to my daydream? Did I make a mistake? I don't think I did, I wouldn't trade my husband, but I still wonder what would have happened..........I have taken into consideration my daydreams can be far fetched.............I have to come back in the real world and grow up.....some grow up faster than others.....

Gemini (May 21-June 21)

We have all herd things about our horoscope. Weather it's good or bad, sometimes it is true. I was lucky enough to be a Gemini! Over the years I have read my horoscope to see if it was true or not. Sometimes it was, sometimes it wasn't. Here are some random facts about Gemini's and I will let you know if I agree or if it pertains to me.

--Talk, Talk, Talk (Yes! I do like to talk, a lot. So does my mom and brother. Mom is a Libra and my brother is a Cancer)

--Nobody understands you. (No one understands me because I talk fast)
--Great at multi tasking. (Sometimes. I am scatter brained. LOL)
--Aren't confused by facts. (It doesn't take much to make me confused.)
--Make a great friend. (I hope so)
--Love new stuff. (Yep)
--Really funny. (I hope so, lol)
--You never sit still. (Very True)
--Energetic (at times I am super calm and at times I am super hyper)
--Nervous and Tense (YES! I get anxious so easy)
--Untidy (No comment, lol. I am always picking up behind myself.)
--Easily bored. (Yes)

Happiness

This past week, I went by the Belk Salon, where I USE to work, to see how everyone was doing. Heather was at the front desk, so I just stood and talked to her, while everyone else had a client. We chit chatted about how things were going at the Belk Salon and how things were going at my new job and just the normal stuff. She told me I seemed much happier. I always tried to be happy, and make the best of situation, but she was right. I am happier. My life is not as stressful! Every since I have been at my new job, I have been less stressed about a few things. For one, I don't stress about what kind of mood my manager will be in when I get to work, and I am making more money.....well tips at least. I haven't gotten a full pay check from my new job yet.....but I can tell you I am far from being rich. If I never be rich that will be fine with me. Just as long as I can be happy with what I have. Happiness is what we make it...no matter what the situation is. Weather it's your job, your house or your relationships. Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest differences. I am so glad I did not give up on doing hair. I wish everyone could be happy.

FREEDOM!

Hey guys! People have been asking me why I quit my job. If you have worked at the Belk Salon you could understand why I quit. Though I do miss all of the stylist, it was difficult working with the manager and with the money I made there it wasn't worth putting up with her. I liked her as a person but not as a boss. On top of that, the money wasn't good. You would think since they were so expensive I would make money, but I didn't. At first I did, but after a while things slowed down. I also did not get to spend enough time with my husband, Shawn. I always had to work when he was off. I was not expecting to get the job at Master Cuts. I was actually planning on taking a teller course at FTCC in March. One evening I put in a application for Master Cuts in on the internet, then I forgot all about it, then a couple of weeks later, they called me to set up a interview....So I had a interview on Thursday, quit my job Saturday and started the new job Monday. At the Belk Salon it always felt like I was walking on egg shells. So, as far as my new job, so far so good!!

Random Facts About Me!

So, we all know that I am a random person, so I will share some more random facts about me!! I ran out of things to talk about so I have to google things. Imagine that, I ran out of things to talk about....lol!!

1. The story of my most serious injury- Well, I have a very low pain tolerance, so it is very easy for me to get hurt. I've been on crutches two different times and got stitches. The time I got stitches, I was fairly young, I was about six or seven. I was down the street at my neighbor Kyle and Jordan's house, (they are brother's, Kyle is the oldest). Kyle told Jordan to pitch some baseballs to him so he could try to hit them, well in the process Kyle kept telling me to move, but I wasn't paying attention and he thought I was. As soon as I turned around and he swung at the same time and hit me in the four head. So, he walked me home, and my mom took me to the hospital. Then I fell down stairs twice and sprained both of my ankles. Not fun!
2. The person I admire most- My mom obviously! I have to admire her, I'm her mini me...lol..I hear that all of the time!
3. If I had a super power- I would want to be able to hear peoples thoughts. That would be pretty awesome!!
4. If this celebrity knocked on my door, I would run away with them- Okay people lets get one thing straight! I would NOT run away with Nick or Aaron Carter, unless I wasn't with Shawn, and a lot skinnier! It would be tempting. I would probably stalk them till they leave town though.......lol....
5. Why I care about celebrities- I think I care about celebrities, because I have no life! I just care about certain ones though!

I think that is enough random facts for the day!! Hope you enjoyed it!

The dictionary from the south

I was trying to find something to blog about, and I have ran out of ideas, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I have had people in the past not be able to understand what I am saying because of my accent, and I talk fast, which is okay...I guess. If you can't understand me please just tell me to slow down and pronounce my words more clearly. I know I am also bad about "making up words". I don't think it's "made up" if other people from the south understand. Here is a mini dictionary of some of the words you may hear in the south!

A- a prefix added to the present to make it sound prettier. "Abe's a-workin in backer today; Ma's a-talikin to you son!!"
Agonna- This word is future tense! "I'm agonna get you if you dont quit messing with my dog"
Backer- A large cultivated weed you can smoke legally. (Southerns don't get all excited about the syllable in front of the accented one)
Bless your heart- a nice expletive expressing approval or encouragement.
Bob War- A twisted wire studded with barbs. Usage- "Boy, stay away from that bob war fence!"
Bobby Q- A delicious meat dish made from pulled pork roasted over hickory wood and doused with red pepper boiled in vinegar.
Booger- Nose stuffing, or a rascal. "Come here you little booger!"
Britches- Anything worn over the legs, pants or overalls.
Caint- Can not
Coon- Racoon
Holler- Yell or talk at the top of your voice.
Purty- another word for pretty.
Sugar- another way of asking for kisses, "come over here and give me some sugar!"
Tawk- a way of communicating by using words.
Yall- the plural of you.

Hope you enjoyed my blog!! Let me know if I missed any words!!!
